(Law Assisted) Divestment for achieving

medical justice

Driving Change Through Strategic Action

At Care for Palestine, we believe in the power of strategic negotiations to foster (medical) justice. Our relentless efforts have contributed to a significant disinvestment of 140 million euros by Dutch financial institutions. This achievement underscores our commitment to addressing the root causes of  injustice in Palestine, advocating for an end to apartheid and occupation as essential steps toward sustainable healthcare solutions. However, in order to make more of an impact we are preparing legal actions to sue pension funds and possibly other financial institutions for their continued investments of billions into the illigal occupied Palestinian territory.

What we do

Alongside an outstanding and experienced legal team, we wish to hold our pension funds, banks, and universities accountable for their complicity by pursuing forceful negotiation and law-assisted divestment. This strategic approach is designed to compel these institutions to disinvest from the occupied territories, thereby aligning their practices with international law.

Get involved

United we can make a difference. To achieve this we need a broad coalition of support of organisations and groups that share this vision so we can truelly make an impact. In the comming months we also need to raise the funds that are essential to cover legal fees and the costs of our lawsuits, as this is a long process that requires sustained commitment. Your support is vital.

We will do it ourselves

No Peace Without Justice,

No Justice Without Law

International law states unambiguously that apartheid, occupation and genocide are not only immoral but illegal. But when those in power fail to enforce them, these laws become dead letters on paper. We will do it ourselves if prosecutors and politicians do not take on this task. And the first step is to stop the illegal financing of the occupation as stated by the ICJ ruling of 19th of July 2024.

When the laws have ceased to be executed, as this can only come from the corruption of the republic, the state is already lost.” ― Montesquieu, The Spirit of the Laws

Do what you can

There is an unprecedented attack on healthcare, children, journalists and aid workers going on in Gaza and the West Bank. More healthcare workers have been killed than in all the conflict worldwide over the last 3 years combined. More children have been killed than in all the wars in the last 5 years combined. And Gaza has the largest population of child amputees worldwide ever recorded during any conflict in history.

Right before being killed, Dr Mahmoud Abu Nujaila managed to write on the hospital whiteboard: “We did what we could. Remember us”. We can choose to honour those who paid the ultimate price for fulfilling their medical oath, and those who continue to risk their lives daily, by heading this last call and doing all WE can

One Year...

Almost one year of life streaming a genocide... One year of seeing mothers mourn and children cry out for their parents. One year of beheaded babies and refugees burnt alive. One year of food trucks blocked, burnt and bombed while children are starving. One year of arbitrary detentions, torture and rape in all impunity. One year of attack on every single hospital and university. One year without sanctions, consequences or justice.

We may not be able to stop this war and occupation machine, but the least we can do is to stop fuelling it.

"at least do not put a penny that goes to the bullits that shoot our children"

This is the final scene from the documumentary "Where Olive trees weep". It is a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation.
