Care For Palestine

Law Assisted Divestment

Driving Change Through Strategic Action

At Care for Palestine, we believe in the power of strategic negotiations to advance (medical) justice. Our relentless efforts have led to a significant disinvestment of over 335 million euros by Dutch financial institutions. This achievement underscores our commitment to addressing the root causes of injustice in Palestine and advocating for an end to apartheid and occupation as critical steps toward sustainable healthcare solutions.

To amplify our impact, we are preparing legal actions to sue pension funds and other financial institutions for their continued investment of billions into the illegally occupied Palestinian territory

What we do

Alongside an outstanding and experienced legal team, we wish to hold our pension funds, banks, and universities accountable for their complicity by pursuing forceful negotiation and law assisted divestment. This strategic approach is designed to compel these institutions to disinvest from the occupied territories, thereby aligning their practices with international law.

Get involved

United, we can make a difference. To achieve this, we need a broad coalition of like-minded organizations and groups to create a meaningful impact. In the coming months, we must raise the funds required to cover legal fees and lawsuit expenses, as this long process demands ongoing commitment. Your support is essential.

We will do it ourselves

No Peace Without Justice,

No Justice Without Law

International law states unambiguously that apartheid, occupation and genocide are not only immoral but illegal. But when those in power fail to enforce them, these laws become dead letters on paper. We will do it ourselves if prosecutors and politicians do not take on this task. And the first step is to stop the illegal financing of the occupation as stated by the ICJ ruling of 19th of July 2024.

When the laws have ceased to be executed, as this can only come from the corruption of the republic, the state is already lost.” ― Montesquieu, The Spirit of the Laws

Do what you can

An unprecedented attack is unfolding on healthcare, children, journalists, and aid workers in Gaza and the West Bank. More healthcare workers have been killed than in all conflicts worldwide over the last five years combined. More children have been killed than in all the wars of the past five years combined. Gaza now has the highest number of child amputees ever recorded in any conflict in history.

Just before being killed, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Nujaila wrote on the hospital whiteboard: “We did what we could. Remember us.” We can honour those who paid the ultimate price for fulfilling their medical oath, and those who continue to risk their lives daily, by heeding this final call and doing all we can.

One Year...

Over a year of live-streaming genocide... A year of mothers mourning and children crying out for their parents. A year of beheaded babies and refugees burned alive. A year of food trucks blocked, burned, and bombed while children starve. A year of arbitrary detentions, torture, and rape with complete impunity. A year of attacks on every hospital and university. A year without sanctions, consequences, or justice.

We may not be able to stop this war and occupation machine, but at the very least, we can stop fuelling it.

"at least do not put a penny that goes to the bullets that shoot our children"

This is the final scene from the documumentary "Where Olive trees weep". It is a searing window into the struggles and resilience of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation.
